about

Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda’s music is a glimmering reflection of what is possible in the realms of transcendental love. They sing and play music that initiates deep healing and opens the heart to divine joy, sharing the grace they have been given through their partnership. Alternating guitar, harmonium, bass, tabla and vocal weaving, they create a magic together that sets the stage for the Devas and Devis to dance upon. Offering a combination of kirtan (call and response singing) mantra repetition, bhajan and original songs, they mix English, Sanskrit and Gurumukhi as a bridge for all those who have been mysteriously called to Yoga and teachings from India.

Ananda's Bio:
Ananda is a musician, who like many have been inspired by the Indian influences of Yoga and Bhakti. His own path took him deeply into the ancient teachings of Yoga, especially Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. His music has a unique blissful energy current supported by Mantras with roots in Sanskrit and Gurmukhi, the Sikh holy language.

With his musical influences from people and groups like Snatam Kaur, Shimshai, the Beatles and Bob Marley, one can't help but feel the sincere connection he has made with his soul and how it touches the listeners. It is music aimed to bridge Eastern and Western paths so that they merge at the only place they can, infinite love. His music is for healing, joy, bliss, communion, yoga, love, and ultimately the experience of the divine within each of us.

Jaya Lakshmi Bio:
Inspired by the deep devotional mood of Indian singing and music, Jaya Lakshmi began leading kirtan with harmonium and 12 string guitar and writing her own devotional songs in the early 1990's on the island of Hawaii, shortly after receiving harinam initiation from Srila Govinda Maharaj, a great Vaisnava saint from West Bengal, India, who graciously bestowed on her the name "Jaya Lakshmi", which means "victory to the goddess Lakshmi", the Hindu goddess of fortune and spiritual wealth.

She has since created 4 solo albums on Sequoia Records and recently released the double disc album 'Live at the Altar of Love' in June 2011. She is also known as the lead singer and songwriter for the techno-tribal group 'Lost at Last' that toured the US West and produced 3 albums during the years of 1997-2004. She continues to explore the format of mixing of electronica and sacred chant ('kirtronica') through composing and performing with Ableton LIVE.

Her ecstatic singing and kirtan leading, often accompanied by other talented artists, has had a powerful effect amongst various communities in the islands of Hawaii, the West Coast, and Europe, always creating a deep sense of intimacy with the divine. She has a unique style that blends beauty, power and purity to create a truly transcendental sound driven by her deep connection with spirit. A gifted songwriter, she weaves English, Sanskrit, and prayers of other spiritual traditions with musical influences from India, indigenous trance, Celtic, psychedelic and folk rock.

Since coming together with Ananda in November 2010, she has been steadily involved in their collaboration of sacred music projects and special events including recording, touring, retreats and teaching yoga together.
She is the mother of two beautiful daughters, a student of Anusara and kundalini yoga, and the Special Events Representative at Luna & Larry's Coconut Bliss, currently based in Eugene, Oregon. Visit her website: www.jayalakshmi.net

This album is a collaboration of music that represents some of their deepest, most intimate connection with the transcendental love and beauty of the divine. It represents their soul's journey and personal longing for the Divine. These songs are routinely in their daily practice for merging with Ananda (Bliss of the Divine). The two of them collaborated on each others albums along with their fantastic band to create these bhakti-filled magical albums.

The intention for making this album was to share with all beings a very intimate way of merging with the divine. Music that would be healing, meditative, heartfelt and timeless. They mix English, Sanskrit and Gurmuki as a bridge for all those who have mysteriously been called to Yoga or teachings from India. The English connects our hearts and the ancient languages align our frequency.

"Our prayer is that this music will be a gem that lights your way on this path towards light, love and truth.
With the utmost love and gratitude, we present this triumph of work and share with you the deepest parts of our souls."

Sat Nam (True Nature) and Namaste (I see the divine in you and that reflection within myself),

vs.

The seasons come and they go, changing over time.
The leaves will grow and fall, the cycles of life.

Flower of Life

Chords Vs. D-G Ch. A-E-D

Vs.

Oh the roads you'll travel
Oh the things you'll see
Oh the lives you'll live
Oh the things you'll be
Traveling on this road
Ever towards the one.

Down through the sun's halo,
White as the snow.
Flies the dove of love
Perched on my shoulder now
And nuzzles against my cheek
Telling me what's to be.

Ch.

This is one dove's dedication
to the flower of life.

Vs.

To live from the heart is to live to be free,
And give thanks to the mother for she is the seed.
When we came from the stars and the heavens to the Sea, to the earth where we placed our own bare feet
She embraced us with her love
and said you are welcome child of God.

Take care of the land from there you will eat
Keep the water clean from there you will drink
The sun ray's gold will bath your soul
And the air you breath in will energize
The whole of your being, connected to all that is.

Purify the body, purify the mind, then songs you will sing to know the divine.
Speak truth from your words and all will reveal, reflections we are all on this wheel.
Spinning through space and time, one more journey closer to the divine.

Ch.
Track Name: Divine Lover's Maha Mantra
Divine Lover's Maha Mantra

Musical chords:
Dm-F-C-G
Capo at 5th fret. Am-C-G-D

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

This is known as the Maha Mantra, especially for Radhe and Krishna devotees. Hare is a name for Radhe or Radha, the incarnation of pure love in feminine form. Krishna and Rama are both names for the masculine incarnation of love. The Maha Mantra is a mystical chant of God in the form of Krishna and Hare calling out to each other to be one.

Jaya Lakshmi Vs.

In the shelter of this sacred grove,
A wondrous blessing of love to behold.
Merging once again with your beauty,
I'm feeling your love so deeply.
And from this place we will carry on,
In the sweet land of Vrindavan
Glorifying the love supreme
Our every breath an offering.

Ananda Vs.

The flute of love trickles out,
Songs I've known before.
The music draws me to your essence,
This place that I adore.

And you embrace me with your arms,
Eyes merged with mine.
Lips connect, souls enmeshed,
With the splendor of the divine.

Together

And in your presence I am,
Closer than ever before.
I seek not the gates of heaven,
For heaven is here adorned

With the hearts of those,
Who have given all,
Thy blessings unto thee,
Reflections of eternal light,
Giving bliss eternally.
